Aces finish season with a win over Faribault 5-4

The Lonsdale Aces finished their regular season League Schedule on Sunday, July 25th with a walk-off 5-4 win over the visiting Faribault Lakers. Jaron Christenson had the game winning at-bat for the Aces. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth he was hit by a pitch which allowed the game winning run to score. Derek Vosejpka pitched the top of the 9th inning for the Aces and picked up the pitching win on the mound. Phil Tisdel started on the mound for the Aces and pitched the first 5 innings scattering 5 hits while allowing 2 runs and striking out 4 Laker batters. The Aces where able to get 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead. With 2 outs in the bottom of the first inning Kevin Kalina reached on an error, Tyler Bednar walked and Brad Vosejpka and Mike Jirik each hit RBI singles for the Aces. The Lakers answered back in the top of the 2nd with a run to tie the game. The game stayed at a 2-2 tie for next 4 innings. Matt Vosejpka pitched in relief for the Aces and kept the Lakers off the bases in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings. Matt pitched 3 innings allowing only 1 hit while striking out 2 Laker batters. In the 7th inning Derek Vosejpka and Aaron Kes each walked and then Derek Christen hit an RBI single and Chad Vosejpka followed up with an RBI double to put the Aces up 4-2. The Lakers were able to score 2 runs in the top of the 9th off of Derek Vosejpka to tie the game. Then in the bottom of the 9th, Derek Christenson led off with a single to left field and was advanced to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt. Kevin Kalina was intentionally walked to put runners on first and second. Brian Vosejpka then drew a walk to load the bases and that’s when Jaron Christenson was hit by a pitch to allow the game winning run to score. The Aces are starting Division Playoffs this week with a best of three series against the Prior Lake Mudcats. The first game is Wednesday, July 28th in Lonsdale at Trenda Memorial Field at 7:30. The second game is Friday night in Prior Lake at 7:30. If a game three is necessary, it will be in Lonsdale on Sunday, August 1st at 2:00. Come on down to the ballpark and cheer on the Aces!

Darrell Vosejpka retires as manager of the Aces

A great era of managing has come to an end. After 10 years of managing the Lonsdale Aces, Darrell Vosejpka has stepped down as manager. Darrell has given over 35 years of greatness to the Lonsdale Baseball Club. To many people, he is the face of Lonsdale Baseball. He will be greatly missed in the dugout, on the field and in every other aspect of Lonsdale Baseball.

Aces win season opener

The Lonsdale Aces beat the Webster Sox 5-0 in their season opener at Webster. Phil Tisdel pitched the first 4 innings, Derek Christenson picked up the win pitching the next 4 and Brian Vosejpka pitched the last inning. The defense played well and the offense got guys on base and had run producing at-bats. Aaron Kes had the Aces only double for the game.
